WELL… THAT WAS QUITE A NIGHT. 🖤
Yesterday, I opened UNCOVERED – a personal journey at The Inbetween.
And honestly? I had no idea what to expect.
UNCOVERED is probably the most personal exhibition I’ve shared in Second Life so far, and opening the doors and suddenly seeing all those people standing in front of these pictures felt a little strange at first.
In the best possible way.
The Inbetween wasn’t so “in between” anymore…
So many familiar faces showed up – friends, people I’ve known for years, people from the CSC community and from completely different corners of my Second Life.
But what made me especially happy was seeing quite a few faces I didn’t know at all.
New people found their way to The Inbetween, conversations happened, contacts were made – and at some point I realized that this little place I had built had become exactly what I hoped it might become.
A place where people meet. And yesterday, that’s exactly what happened. Which made me pretty damn happy. ❤️
And then there was Jan… 🎧
And then, of course, there was Jan.
When Jan told me he was going to put together a special set for the evening, something that would fit UNCOVERED and The Inbetween rather than simply playing a regular party set, I was already very curious.
And he absolutely understood the assignment. 🖤
The music didn’t compete with the exhibition or the conversations happening around it. It became part of the atmosphere of the evening – and I couldn’t have wished for a better soundtrack for UNCOVERED.
Thank you. Really. ❤️
And then it hit me…
At some point during the evening I just stood there for a moment, looked around and thought: Well… this actually happened. People came. Lots of them. They stayed. They even seemed to enjoy themselves. Apparently I did something right. 😂
The Inbetween was full of people. My pictures were on the walls. Jan was playing. People were talking, laughing, looking at the photographs, meeting each other – and somehow this very personal little project had turned into something shared.
That’s a pretty wonderful feeling.
So thank you to everyone who came, stayed, danced, talked, looked, listened and made this opening what it was. To the familiar faces and the completely new ones.
You made my evening. ❤️
Impressions
I took quite a few pictures during the party, so maybe you’ll find yourself here. If not, you were probably moving too fast. Blame Jan. 😉
And what happens next…?
UNCOVERED will stay at The Inbetween for a while.
How long? I honestly don’t know yet. And I don’t know what – or who – will move onto these walls next either.
I think I’ll simply let my feeling decide when it’s time for something new. The Inbetween was never meant to run on a strict schedule anyway. Things will happen when they feel right.
Until then, UNCOVERED is there for everyone who couldn’t make it to the opening – or maybe wants to come back and have another look without a crowd around. 😉
And of course, The Inbetween itself isn’t going anywhere.
So whether you come for the exhibition, a coffee, the view, a conversation, some music or simply because you feel like escaping your own little world for a while – you’re always welcome.
Maybe that’s what The Inbetween is for, after all.
